Oscar Nominee Censored in China

A China film titled "China's Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province" or "No Ordinary Disaster China: tears in Sichuan Province", one of the five films that get Oscar-nominated short film category for the documentary, has been censored in China.
This film shows the devastating impact of the earthquake that shook Sichuan in May 2008. At that time, 70,000 people died, including 10,000 children who died falling rubble of school buildings.

This matter is a sensitive issue in Sichuan.

The grieving student parents accused the government of corruption in the construction of school buildings. Schools that should be a place to shelter the children have changed to be a trap death.

In the area of Dujiangyan, the parents even suspect the construction of school buildings made of bamboo, not strong steel. Of course, what told by the parents in the movie has denied by the government of China. The government argued that the buildings collapsed by the earthquake.

The documentary records of complaints and crying of the grieving parents, who later turned into a protest. "Is this construction?" said one parent, while break bricks, to show how vulnerable their child's school buildings.

The 40-minutes duration film shows the audience how the parents considered as rock and not ignored by Communist Party officials. The documentary forbidden to appear in China and the word "no ordinary disaster" censored from the Internet pages in China.

The film has been nominated for an Oscar, but it was not published in the media of China. This has led to speculation that China will not even publish directly Oscar night gala. Government of China would be embarrassed if this movie to win.
